Breakthrough

Breakthrough

A Poem by Alyssa Emmings (a.e.)

after all these years,
you still keep your head down in terror;
the strength to speak up cannot be found.

they tell you who you are,
and still the question remains:
are you going to believe them?

or are you going to rise,
and release who you are inside?
if you do, there'll be a breakthrough.

you'll find there's only one you,
so go on,
prove them wrong.

show them you're not who
they thought you were.
show them you're stronger
than you were before.

This one is relatable to everyone at one point or another. Being scared and torn down does take it's toll. When we are in the fight for escape most if not all of us still try to find who we are. The questions stay and sometimes change. Thanks for sharing a wonderful piece that easily relates with the inner soul.
