For the New Mommy...

 

No Sleep For Mom

Sleeping mother tries to rest

With her baby upon her chest

Just as her eyes begin to close

Babies cries start to explode

Feed him, change him, burp him well

Talk and coo him, sit a spell

Lay him down, here comes the test

Maybe now she'll get her rest

Babies sleep, she's done her task

watch him now, five minutes pass

Mother thinks he's sleeping deep

Nows the time for her to sleep

She tries to drift off, want to so

But she finds she just can't go

Hours pass and minutes plunder

as she watches baby slumber

She lays down now and finds that she

is now exhaused and can sleep

Just as her head hits pillows case

She turns to see her babies face

His eyes are wide and you know what?

No sleep for mom, her babies up !!!

this is so true! My mom would relay me stories of her sleepless nights when we were growing up. you are wonderful capturing the reality in poems! reading this made me feel grateful with the sacrifices of my mom, and makes me wanna praise all good moms out there! :)
