Clobbered StoneA Story by poetic-raven2012Clobbered Stone I am a pebble among millions in the concrete driveway of a house. You drive and walk over and by me so many times a day, not seeing me there. To you, I am not one in a million, but one among millions, cold, without feelings. I’m a rock in one spot, just a dot beneath your vision, and it’s not within reason for you, Tall Man, to stoop and talk to me, whom you can’t even see. But I perform perfectly for your near-surreal ideals that find me when I try to hide, and hold me in place when I try to rise. But then for a little while, you treat me above all others, holding me tight, but not too close to smother. Then I’m told I’ll be kept up in your eyes, I’m told I’ll be your prize, so I promise myself. But slowly after that, you let me down to drown, again I am one among millions. And you come to visit me, timid, reminiscent, and I let you back because I swore it and you heard it. No matter how many times you hurt me, not a single tear will shed your eyes, because I will never lie. © 2010 poetic-raven2012Reviews
