Two Sets

Two Sets

A Poem by poetic-raven2012

Two Sets

You finish my sentence
like you finish me off,
with a flourish,
a smile,
and a ‘see you soon.’

Regrettably there is not a
hug or goodbye kiss
like I seem to have grown
used to,
just the reality that
only ever seems clear
in the very end.

I guess this would be the last
walk we ever took together,
but while two sets of
footprints walked the path there,
only one walked the path home.
