Locust

Locust

A Poem by poetic-raven2012

Locust

Don’t try and lie to me
when I can hear the inane
buzzings of deceit
lurking in the backdrop.

The many eyes you display are
all glimmering in hate, affection, jealousy,
but I know just which ones are
fake, and which are true.

I see the way you hold your
wings so close to you at night. You’re
always trying to hide,
unaware that others can still see you.

So don’t try and lie,
and say you haven’t moved.
Don’t try and lie
and say that there’s only one of you.

Go and lay your head down silent
for the next twenty-one years,
and when you resurface,
maybe I’ll have forgotten what happened here.
