Pacing You

Pacing You

A Poem by poetic-raven2012

Pacing You

Upset,
so you push your body
’til it wants to fail,
and I am beside you.

We’re both on two wheels,
bikes,

and you want to ride the big hill
’til there’s no more strength left.

Your legs pull you down the street
as fast as you can go,

and I won’t disappoint you
by falling behind.

The burning feeling starts
in my feet,
and begins to creep up my legs
as we reach the middle of the hill.

We reach the top,
turn and go back down.
Again,
we follow the routine.

The burning has turned to
a rhythmic shaking, and you
tell me to rest, but if you don’t

need to, then neither do I.

We hit the hill again,
but this time at the bottom

you slow and stop, and I fall off,
standing on my shaky legs.

Whenever she gets upset, I don't really notice my pain anymore. It kinda fascinates me in a weird way.

Truth.
