Properties of Water
When I drift away as mist
you bring me down again.
When I am freezing cold to the touch
your warm hands hold and melt me.
Water has density; water is a solid, liquid, and gas.
I have positive and negative times
that never quite seem to cancel each other out,
and my electrons are never equal,
but you see past that.
Water has polarity; water has positive and negatively charged ends.
When people around me shiver with cold
I always warm them up again,
but when they sit content and happy,
I sometimes drag them into ice.
Water has high specific heat.
I don’t show my emotions
as well as I should,
and many people think that
I am simple and clear.
Water is the universal solvent.
It's far and few that I’ll break and allow
people to see and hear inside of me, but
once they get inside, I’ll reveal it all,
and they might know me better then I know myself.
Water has high surface tension.
No matter how steep the climb
I know that if I have some help
from others that are after the same things as me,
I’ll make it to the top.
Water performs capillary action.
Although I tend to stick with
people like me, sometimes I like the challenge
of befriending someone different; someone
both the equal and the opposite of me.
Water is attracted to itself and other substances by cohesion and adhesion.
On our own we are two separate entities
hoping for someone to complete them,
but when combined we are perfect,
two halves of the same whole.
Water is a molecule; water is hydrogen and oxygen.
