JOURNEY TO THE LIGHT

JOURNEY TO THE LIGHT

A Poem by Teresa Bridges

JOURNEY TO THE LIGHT

In the darkness, going nowhere
in a maze, twisting and turning
Looking for someone who cares
about the years of your heart’s yearning.

Twisting this way and that
doing anything to ease the pain.
Staying in the dark like a bat in a cave,
Allowing the evil to remain,
Until a small ray of light
Penetrates the inky blackness,
Leading to the path that is right.
So bright the light is, you can’t help but see it!

You begin your journey to reach this light
Over hills and mountains,
Down into caves to continue the fight,
Stumbling, falling and getting up again.

You keep on going, keep on pushing
Until the light is not just a ray,
But a growing lamp that is glowing
So bright it turns the night into day.

You finally get to the midst of the journey,
learning and growing
In the love of the one who saved you and me
Like the light you will continue to glow!
God is the light
Jesus is the way
To all things that are good and right,
Take that journey…
The journey to the light!

Nice visual on this piece. You take the reader from a point of dispair to a point of release. At first I thought you were comparing enlightenment through Jesus to the crysalis of a butterfly. I saw similarities there. It is a journey and there world changes for those who have met Him.

Cheers!
Doc.
