Here's Your SignA Poem by Shelley Williams
I was busy packing boxes, loading the moving van out front. furniture was being moved while for other things I'd hunt. A neighbor came up to me and I stopped to chat a while. He then asked me, "Are you moving?" and I couldn't help but smile. The moment wasn't over yet for, it was my turn to speak, my words can be clever but my smarts a little weak. A bus pulled up beside the van, the boy's mom nowhere in sight. dropped him off in my care While cars passed the stop sign's light. The next car was stopped so the bus could go its way, it doesn't need explaining when the word should be, "Obey!" The look was of confusion and stupid fell out his ear, "The sign doesn't speak to me." "Well, if I shout it can you hear?" "Even if the sign was in your face would you still drive on past?" Then the boy's mom appeared and she was going pretty fast. There was a sudden, loud honk and the sign flew in the air, Why do they even bother nobody seems to see it there? I shook off the stupidity that spread across our street, the stop sign was destroyed with bus driver looking beat. The boy's mother picked it up put it in the driver's hand, some people need a brain slap to help them clearly understand. Before you place the blame remember it isn't just a phase, "DO NOT follow my example because stupid spreads these days." © 2011 Shelley Williams |
