Who am I?

written later in sixth grade

 

Who am I?

 

The monster came

And raged a war

But it lost

So Depression’s no more

 

The war ended

It ruined life’s fun

I lost my personality

The damage was done.

 

But who am I

And how should I act

It’s empty inside me,

That’s a blatant fact

 

My memory’s bad,

I don’t remember the old me

It’s like there was a fire

And destroyed the old tree

 

Who am I?

Am I nice and kind?

Am I selfless

Deep down in my mind?

 

Time to rebuild

Through all the soot

So did they leave me

A little bit of root

 

Who do I want to be?

Change is new

Change is good

And change is true

 

I can change

From good to bad

Since after all

I’m no longer sad
