CELEBRATE THE SOILA Poem by poetdoug(Based on Charles Warner's story: "My SUMMER IN A GARDEN" written over 100 years ago.
Let us Celebrate the Soil
God made so much of it In fact He regarded it so dearly He formed Adam and Eve of it Formed Adam and Eve of it Let's cultivate the love of delightful dirt (Why not---all rich landowners do) Blessed agriculture--digging in ground Seems to come back home to you. Come back home to you. Most men toil that they may own An acre or two of their own dirt; A bit of ground to call his own (And a tree or two won't hurt) A tree or two won't hurt. We who plant a Spring Garden Feel we have done something good; Helped make the world a better place When on Terra Firma we have stood. On Terra firma we've stood. No matter how ancient our own age Chocolate mud pies satisfy the soul; So let's Celebrate the Soil today Before from earth we eternally go. From earth we eternally go. 2014 by DRR
