Blessed is the man
Carved of ancient Oak and Rock With a mind like an accounting ledger He is a steamroller in a pair of pants With a face as fine as old parchment (Proachnoy) He lives a life as uncompromising as a policeman's club. His moral values are as solid as the Stars His attributes make him as changeless as the holy Heavens With pure motives ringing out as clear as a Bell (Chaucer) His goals are as upright as a wooden sentinel at the door of a show(Sir Walter Scott) His stance is straight--not turning like a weary weather c**k with every wind that blows (Guy Maupassant) His life mission is as uncompromising as chewing gum (A.Bennett) His virtues like a Polar Star which keeps its place and all stars turn towards it (Confucius) His life--as frank as an honest bathroom mirror. His talent shines like the evening star (O.Holmes) His tenacity is crisp as new bank notes (Dickens) When he arises--his head rings alarmingly like a fire station gong His business fits him as a shell fits a crab (Sir A.Cowan Doyle) So, it follows as night the day (Shakespeare) that he shall be blessed by the Creator himself. His goal is like the golden Rule (Bible) His life shall be fruitful--not fruitless as the bee who swarms alone (G.K.Chesterton) Hell hisses at his success like a snake (Hugo) but still he pays no attention. He prayerfully holds mind and soul together like the shell does the egg (Van Dyke) His soul delights in God and is as happy as a tree full of chickens (Cobb) His name shall be remembered as immortal as the stars (M.Blind) His life shall not end abruptly like a rabbit's tail, but his soul lives on in heaven. Great men are like meteors. They glitter and are consumed to enlighten the world (Napoleon) His example--like the tower bell calling us to daily prayer (J.Ruskin) Soon this like is set as a piece of (granite) sculpture (Dickens) Blessed is this man. He shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 1) P.S. You only live once, but if you do it right--once is enough (Mae West) 2014 by DRR Member Academy of American Poets
