Tell Your Last

Tell Your Last

A Poem by poetbunny

The butterflies have fluttered their last,
Dwelling on memories long since passed.
Bitter words have stung enough,
My heart has grown too tough,
For childish insults to take effect.
Flames of jealousy are extinguished
The time has come to forget-
No more minutes are to be spent
On things that just aren't meant to be.
No reason to waste feelings
On a friendship we can't even supplement.
Though these tendencies thrive,
The urge to sustain something
That never stood to survive...
It's the end of that line,
Better to get on with life.

Denying that this once meant something to me-
Refusing all your niceties
And sweet whispers I've never believed.
Sweet lies, tell your last
And head, ignore the past.
Eyes- see truth, not insecurities.
Heart, let go-
And know when
He's not good enough for me.
