Heartache of Goodbye

Heartache of Goodbye

A Poem by poetbunny
"

The start of new love with old ghosts from the past that are hard to forget about.

"

The heartache in this house is suffocating,

I feel the strength of it gripping me and dragging me down.

Trying to ignore the pain and the melancholy melody

Of lovers that echoes off the walls.

Not a single one of them matters but you.

I’ve said too many goodbyes in this spot,

Fallen apart and been taken down a notch

Lost everything I thought I had and been broken-

Standing here on this same spot of hardwood flooring.

I’d been ignoring and trying to forget the tears

Seeking the solace of your arms

But now we are here and this pain is still real

I can’t shut my heart out to you and so I feel.

I remember in sickening detail

The many kisses of goodbye

The opening of the door and departure in fading sunlight.
