Of Sandwiches And Mold (Title Requested By Tyler)A Poem by Madeleine CelesteTyler Cady, have your request for a terrible sandwich poem FULFILLED! I will take requests for anything, I just might not follow through. But here I did.“Do you want a sandwich?” And from the moment we are asked there is no way to refuse And so, we are given this… sandwich At first is seems rather unremarkable Not necessarily above average, as sandwiches go And we do things to change in life, To try to change our life, But in the end, life is nothing more than a vessel for our actions, Just as bread is nothing more than a vessel for meat, or cheese, or lettuce And so, when you have filled your sandwich with the best things you can find Turkey and provolone and love and loss and realization It becomes this irresistible metaphor But it also becomes a cursed sort of irony The more you want it, the sooner it is gone Unless you have learned to find a balance Contentment with the little bits of life at a time And when you are finished you are full Instead of eating just for eating And being full But still hungry © 2018 Madeleine CelesteReviews
