Resting Place

Resting Place

A Poem by poet2angels (lynda)
"

for my husband ...

"

Would it be cliché to say

that I feel a flutter

when you walk into the room,

or that your whisper goodnight

sends shivers of warmth to places

only your tenderness can reach;

bringing calm to fears and a hush

to the darkness

that may try to revisit.

I once wondered

what dreams looked like

penning sonnets in clandestine moments

of 2:00 a.m. sad, sweet solitude.

Now I know that I can weep

without being called weak;

reverberate in free verse

and make it pretty,

but, in those quiet times,

when your shoulder is my resting place,

I can give up, if only for a moment,

and give in to the need;

feet, not touching the floor,

and no one has to know,

but us.

Oh, wow! This was beautiful and elegant; sensual and soft, like a poetic whisper in the dark. It has a heartbeat of its own like a gentle lullaby of love. Truly lovely, F.
