Bourbon and Beer

Bourbon and Beer

A Poem by PoemsbyPatrick

Bourbon and beer,
Shared with some that I love,
Smooths out the edge,
And mellows the heart.

The color of caramel,
The taste that awakes,
The senses attuned,
To 92 proof.

The fullness of malt,
The bitter of hops,
A rich dark brown,
But not at all stout.

The tastes I enjoy,
My mind it does calm,
Brings soundness of sleep,
And richness abound.

Enjoy though I might,
It is clear here tonight,
That bourbon and beer,
Is a pale substitute,
For the taste of your kiss,
And the comfort of you,
Here in my arms.

I had a few nights of bourbon and beer. Good to be with friends. Laugh, drink and celebrate life. I enjoyed the complete poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Hmm we all find our muse in our own way, mine happens to be a glass of absinthe and a spliff. Wonderfully written.

in moderation, alcohol has a mellow and calming effect. but taken in great quantities, it may become the beast. you have examined and related the softer side of this , and nicely done....

true. Alcohol helps to escape from the pain, but only temporarily. Well done Poet.
