Sweet Embrace

The world but tries to keep us apart,

Pulling on us in many dimensions.

There is little time for affairs of the heart,

When the world demands so much attention.

We battle and struggle,

To capture some time,

To be in each other's arms.

Holding each other,

As tight as we can,

We ward off the world's demands.

I look into your eyes,

And I see a universe of wonder,

A sparkle that tells the deepness of our love.

You look into my eyes,

And see the truth of my devotion,

A passion needing to touch deep into your soul.

These moments though are fleeting,

Their meaning so profound,

They fill our minds with joy.

These few words pale in their attempt,

To tell the meaning, love, and joy

We find in sweet embrace.

This is so beautiful, loving, and sweet. It shows how no matter what, you want your love to survive and grow. No matter what, you'll love that person, and you'll do everything you can to remain close to them, no matter what obstacles the world may throw at you.

Very eloquently put. Wonderful title too! I think I'd make the first line better by removing 'but.' Otherwise I think it's really showing rather than telling and very good quality as poems go, with a regular rhythm and an appropriate use of vocabulary.

reminds me of the last relationship i was involved in. had to fight tooth and nail to spend any quality time with her....between childrens needs and work calling at home it was a nightmare, but the times together were so precious. nice write...
