Be Not PerfectA Poem by PoemsbyPatrickThis is more of a free flow than a poem. Perhaps even a bit of a rant. Just had to get these words out of my mind, before they clog my throat....For all these years you have been perfect, Or at least trying to make it so. I watch now as you tell the world, How their dreams cannot come true. At each and every turn, There are risks that should not be taken, There are worries to gripping, And so you cannot move. It is best to be comfortable, In your stable world, Than take the risks, That seeking pleasures bring. I have allowed your views, To bind me, To make me think that I’m at fault. To see you seek to bind our children, In that doubtful thought, Is too much for my heart to bear, And so I write these words. Seek not the comfort of stability, But risk the pleasure path. Live a life of honest joy, And the heartache that it brings. Because the pleasure of your soul, Will outweigh any doubt. And joyful justly sought, Will erase all pain’s degrees. For you the path is set in stone, I cannot change your journey. Perhaps I can but alter mine, To free me from your bile. I certainly can teach our children, What the risk is worth, And help them realize the joy, Of pleasure well deserved.
