Pillows on the Bed

Pillows on the Bed

A Poem by PoemsbyPatrick

The pillows lie on the bed in tangled disarray,
A poor substitute for the wonder of you.
I held them through the night as I dreamed,
Of your entrancing body and the sparkle of your smile.

The world keeps me from you this day,
With tasks to complete and places to be.
I will heed it's beckon call,
Serving the master of my way.

When nighttime comes but once again,
And sleep comes into view,
I will take them in my arms,
Wishing they were you.

This is adorable. I can really relate to it, and I think it's nicely written.

I have many character flaws, the greatest of which being honesty...

This is written as if the author is in-love with the idea of writing poetry. As poets/ writers, we have entire arsenals at our disposal and endless storehouses of imagination just begging to be unloaded. This piece just doesn't cut it. At best, it's the sort of personal work a 3rd grade boy presents to his crush of the day.
