To love your pain justly challenges me, and I promise to rise to the challenge.

Pain, in all its forms,

Assaults you in varied ways.

The sharp knife cutting through your mind,

That light intensifies.

The crushing weight of memories,

Too difficult to forget.

The lesser pains that come from doubt,

About your journey's path.

The daily strife of struggle,

To meet the world's requests.

If I could remove all the pain,

I would do so gleefully,

But that would mute the parts of you,

That justly challenge me.

I love you not only in times of joy,

But with every waking thought.

I'll hold you through the times of pain,

'Til loves sweet touch is sought.

All I ever ask of you is simple in its way,

Share with me your life's full pain,

Each and every day.

Nice work. I enjoyed reading this. The flow works well and it is only just long enough. Your purpose is clear. This is great because it touches on an important part of love that is often forgotten, ignored or not put into romantic poems. I agree with your sentiments. All parts of life make all of us who we are and if we care for another person, parts of why we care for them are laced with things that might be unpleasant. And the other aspect of this- if you can't love someone through the s**t, you cannot actually love them.
