I Know Who I am

I Know Who I am

A Poem by PoemsbyPatrick
"

I had forgotten who I was, till passion found me again.

"
I know who I am,
More than just a man.
I am passion burning bright,
Long and deep into the night.

I know who I am,
More than just a man.
I am passion strong and bold,
Tales of my deeds to be told.

I was not always who I am,
In days gone by I was just a man.
My passion hidden far away,
To make it through each passing day.

I hid my passion from the world,
Protecting those around me,
From the flicker of the flame,
Of passions that surround me.

So long I hid it from the world,
I had forgot its taste.
Until you came into my life,
And remind me of my fate.

I am not simply man alone,
To live life meek and mild.
I must refind my passion,
And touch the flowers wild.

I cannot live without this part of me,
I will not send it back to the darkened sea.
Passion is my best part, you see,
It must be released in full, if I am to be.

I know who I am,
More than just a man.
I thank you for showing me,
The fullness that I ought to be.

I know who I am,
More than just a man.
I am passion burning bright,
Long and deep into the night.

I know who I am,
More than just a man.
I am passion strong and bold,
Tales of my deeds to be told.

I like the idea that you are not hiding, you are who you are, and you are proud. In our fast paced life some people can not figure out who they are, some feel they need to hide, others like you know who they are and have nothing to hide. The poem itself is so well writen, it is smooth and passionate. It made me want to read every word, and certainly more of your poems. Great job!

I like this very much. It is simply and smoothly written; it's whimsical, it's lightly toned, but at the same time it has this powerful meaning, and it is just a good piece. Kudos to you.

Very powerful write. My favourite part of this poem is in fact the description
"I had forgotten who I was, till passion found me again."
That's a wonderful thing! Thanks for sharing

Stepping out of being spiritual for a moment, I love the literary aspect of "flowers wild" and "passion is the best part, you see" when the phrase is written in reverse. It brings interest to the poem and prevents it from being cliche, if you will.
The poem itself, as a whole was beautiful and inspiring: how important it is to become who you need to, find yourself and not let others put up restraints.
Nice write, Patrick
