These WallsA Poem by PoemsbyPatrickThese walls are meant to hold me, To shield me from myself. They manage and control me, My life in order on a shelf. These walls are made of rules, Too many to comply. The rules have little reason, No answer as to why. As I struggle in my mind, To free me from this jail. My will is slowly sucked away, My soul begins to wail. You have built this prison of rules, From loves unbridled might. Control me and constrict me, Through the darkness of the night. Your intertwined rules of love, Speak not of love and kindness. They only seek to shackle me, Beyond love’s warm caress. These walls are meant to hold me, I shall not let them be. They manage and control, I strive to set me free. Your rules speak not of love, Nor logic kind and true. They only strive to shield yourself, From the world loving you. Where once my love for you, Had filled these empty halls. Now I must find my true love, Beyond these narrow walls. These walls shall not bind me, Hold, control or find me. I seek now my own true love, No walls of rules confine me. © 2012 PoemsbyPatrickReviews
