Hey Batter, Batter!  What’s the Matter?

This is Zack.  He is a cat.  And he is up to bat!

Zack holds the bat.  The ball comes fast!

SWING, Zack!  But the ball falls flat.

 

Up in the stands, Zack hears the chatter: 
Hey batter batter!  What's the matter?

 

Zack puts on his cap.  He picks up the bat. 

He wants a hit!  Here comes the pitch! 

But the ball goes ZIP!

 

Up in the stands, Zack hears the chatter:
Hey batter batter!  What's the matter?

 

This is not fun.  Zack wants to run!  Is there too much sun? 

Zack makes a stand.  The bat is in his hands.  The pitch is good. 

And . . . CRACK!  The ball meets wood!

Run, Zack, run!

 

One base . . . two base . . . three base . . . can Zack make one more?

Yes!  Zack can score!  He hits home base! 

And the Ump says, "Safe!"

 

Up in the stands, there is a new patter:

Hey batter batter!  You made that ball scatter!

I like this because I am such a baseball fan. I could see this with really good art. I think this would be a good book for kids because of the rhyme and repetition.
