chopped liver

chopped liver

A Poem by Eshe' Allen

on my first safari

in kenya

we came upon some

gazelles

graceful

long lines

fast, powerful jumpers

sigh

and it was in this

moment of blissful

reflection

I was informed

by the masaai

that they are known as

cheetah chow

i revere love

and am therefore a

proponent

of chasing it into any

divide

but to reject

fully and wholeheartedly

without reflection

to forsake

is to relegate the

black woman

chow
