My Shade Of Comfort

My Shade Of Comfort

A Poem by chloe cruz
"

Due for an assignment, but I really enjoyed writing this and like stepping out of my usual genre for this piece.

"

Its darker tones send soil,
scents of earth meeting nostrils.
Its lighter tones bring mochas,
bittersweet, steamy cocoa.
It tastes like that of chocolate,
possessing its rich, smooth layers.

Its enemy is yellow, its ally red.
Brown mediates this crimson rage,
Soothing its menacing anger.
The two brothers combined
Forming calming, loft-like surroundings,
resist the heat of yellow,
rejecting it’s golden misfortune.

They are nature- without one,
there would not be the other.
For can berries exist,
without the nutrient rich dirt it calls
mother?

I really love the first stanza, it made me think of standing in a garden and smelling freshly turned earth.

Hello,
Siya sent this to me and I can understand why... I have never read a poem capturing a colour in such a detailed way that it wakens all human senses. After reading this, I certainly can not only see but also smell, taste, feel and even hear the colour brown.
A true masterpiece!

Wow! WOW! One more favourite poem. :)
The last verse is beyond amazing. It reminds me of Shelley. Great style. The first verse made me crave for some coffee and chocolate. Amazing.
Sorry for such a short review. But I really, really liked it. Damn, I am outta words I guess, haha.. :)
