Where Were You?A Poem by yourhaircutmanMy personal views on religion. I'm not bashing anybody else's view. I respect all opinions.Where were you when I needed you most? I needed your saving that I had heard so much about. Your name was always the one I heard associated with digging others out of the deepest of holes, shining light on the darkest of places, giving hope to the most pessimistic people. You seemed to work wonders, your magic seemed infallible. Where were you when I was screaming for help? Covered in my own blood, I was forced to drown in it. I needed aid, but you left me to suffer. I heard that you put us through obstacles, but one man can only fight for so long. You were said to be strong, but you couldn't lift the burdens that weighed me down. Where were you when I had nobody else? They said that you're everywhere all at once; if so, why do I feel so alone? Do you only appear when I'm doing wrong? Why don't you reward me for being right? I needed you. Where were you when my Grandfather was dying, suffering from a painful tumor, flooding his lungs, like New Orleans after the hurricane. I watched him suffer. Did you? Where were you when he needed you? Come to think of it, where were you when anybody needed you? Are you always hiding? Are you scared? Scared to see that the lives that you created are ruining the planet that you put them on, the place that they are supposed to call home? Are you terrified to see that your Children are at war with one another, hating ourselves, and not respecting what your intentions were? Where were you throughout all of this? Are you frightened to let down the ones that are supposed to love you and cherish you? Are you alarmed by that?
Where were you when I needed you? I'd say to man up and show your face, but it's hard for me to believe you were ever there in the first place. © 2012 yourhaircutman |
