Feels Like Forever

Feels Like Forever

A Poem by yourhaircutman

I remember when I was younger my

parents would say that life is too short

to stay mad at somebody. At that time

I thought that they were crazy. Life

wasn't short, life was extremely,

unfathomably long.

I couldn't wrap my mind around the

idea of forever and the forever of life

just seemed too expansive to label it

short.

As I grew older, as my voice deepened,

as my awkwardness started to show,

I began to understand what my parents

had meant.

Like a fan being switched from low to high,

time " like the air from the fan blade " started

speeding up,

with the wind from the fan blowing back my

hair faster and stronger than ever.

I'm already closing in on my freshman year

of college and I still can't fully wrap

my mind around forever.

Maybe life isn't short.

Maybe it's just fast.

Either way, I still have exceeded the amount of

anger

that one man should contain,

despite the brevity of a lifetime.

They may think that life is short, but when you're

always pissed off and upset,

it feels like

forever.
