gus's momentA Chapter by gobifierceArgus walked to the end of the Black-Lake dock, a ruby rose in his hand. He looked at the thorny flower and felt the searing fire within vamping up the borders of his lungs. He took long, deep breaths. He’d picked it for Bonnie. “Agh!” He cursed. A salty drop fell and went into its velvet petals. Eternity was present, he knew, feeling sick. Then the fire in his heart lashed out and spilt within. He cast the rose, pricking his finger with a thorn in the process. Not an accident. The beautiful flower seemed too unreal. It hit, taken slowly under by the clear waters, looking like a painting going down, down. Finally, it rest in the soft moss-covered rocks seven feet under. The blood drop hit second, blooming and clouding the water very, very slowly. Eternity left only after the blood had mixed out and cleared. There lay the rose, real as when he’d picked it at the days dawning. © 2011 gobi |
