Suppressed

Siena

 

            Martha is gone.

Suppressed, but not forgotten.

She’s buried herself in the depths

of my mind. She is cowering.

Grandmother scared her.

 

I don’t know

how long this

will last.

 

I fear she may

be getting stronger,

gathering her strength,

saving her energy.

 

I want to trust

that she is gone

but I know better.

 

Grandmother says I’m stronger

than her.

That I can

            defeat her.

I don’t know if

it’s true.
