All the Fundamental ThingsA Poem by p.kuhlI walk this way home for a reason
Broody Holiday
Dec 17, 2011Fourth Dec 24, 2011Your window was dressed to kill with ribbons and lights and knickknacks and bright red curtains, and as I passed, it glistened with the reflection of street lights and falling snow. I saw you, in your light brown sweater, stacking money behind the counter, behind the window outlined in red, behind the sign that read, "Sorry, we're CLOSED." You looked up, and in a glance you told me everything. Love and war and snow, secrets and veils and all the fundamental things, but mostly the ins and outs of being alone. You forced a smile, and I quickly broke my gaze, only to set my eyes upon the bold black letters that seemed to scream at me through the ornamented glass wall. "Help Wanted" © 2011 p.kuhl |
