Aubrey DaydreamsA Poem by p.kuhl
Aubrey, your curtains are drawn.
I can see you spinning a clover between your thumb and index like a tiny helicopter. Its twisting green winds lift the ends of your dark hair, pulling your heels in static alignment like a figurehead. Aubrey, my little inspiration, take heart. Bring in my lips. Fasten my skin to yours and wear me like a sundress; let me be this portrait of you. Pin me to the wall and frame me with your ivy arms, or just swim out with me into the blue paint to grow young. We could make cartoons of the future, we could hang like a framed photo until our families find us, turning to wax and falling into each other with the slow roast of our ember hearts. © 2013 p.kuhl |
