The Battle cried Mary

The Battle cried Mary

A Poem by Poetic Justice

Beleaguered dreams beset in the corners of bestial reality

Drained of compassionate thought and blinkered to the truth

She wept at the sight before her with a smudge of kohl and sack cloth eyes

As chaos chanted its baited chorus in unison with the call of the night

The dawn did not bring an end to the decadence of the darkness

Merely highlighting the emancipation of hell upon the fruitless soil

Mocking the agony of her already afflicted heart

While the battle cried Mary

A call of tide whispered to her that not all was lost

Some prayed for the rays of rapture to once again caress the war torn terrain

Seditious minds brewed notions as their convictions grew

Lighting doctrine candles to illuminate the beliefs of fractured hearts

She washed their feet in reverence to the proclamation of justice

Her tears bringing hope to the fears of a nation

As the battle cried Mary

Holding an armistice against her breast

She strode towards the hellish breath that punctured the air

And stroked her intentions down its mane

With gentle insistence she placed her memories against it skin

Blessing its hearts with joyous purpose

Slowly it seized the righteous reasoning

Lowering its head in anointed bliss

And the Battle cried Mary

Honestly I drown in these poems and you resuscitate me. The sacrifice and surrender you describe on battlefields resemble much of what happens internally to many of us in our homes and families... that's just where it took me of course I am just a dreamer... Nice emotional write.

Wow! So impressive. Amazing poem. Nice use of anaphora. The concept is a combination of old and new facts.

Loved this. Great job.

Just so intense, deeply felt, m'dear you never lose your pumping blood, flowed through your quill, also in difficult times, your art splashes of the screen, I so missed this, I so missed the words of an artist, like you.

"As the battle cried Mary" "this sentence, just give a whole juxtaposition, here for it's meant, to contradict the fact of this eloquent meaning" you dig deep PJ, as always, it's a miracle to delve in art like yours. So I thank you once again, after a long time... metaphorically brilliant.

Wow. This is just stunning. You have just grasped the reins of greatness right firmly in your hands on this one lady. Written with Authority and garnished with allegory, riding boldly forth on the bright fields of legend and steeped with the aura of myth, told in the tones of an ancient fable. Stupendous!

I personally always like work that nods to the classics but I relish these new writers (ie YOU) who possess the refreshing ability to write things that are NEW and decorate them with identifiable artifacts of modern culture :-)

Thank you for your wonderful work!
