Sonnet 4

Sonnet 4

A Poem by PJ
"

There is one treasure that I desire most..

"
There is one treasure that I desire most,

And yet, in truth, my heart would not concede,

To this sweet affection that my honest host,

Would then have my heart, in truth, believe.

But one whose smile makes diamonds cheap,

Can tempt my thought and preclude my art,

Whose eyes in riches are sapphire deep,

Where one small measure overfills my heart.

But then these outward jewels hide inner gems,

And here the river of true treasure flows,

From a silver spring that beauty blends

and love's golden stream that grows.

The mark of a man's wealth is not in gold,

But that which he can see and truly behold.
