Car Crash

Car Crash

A Poem by PistolxSweetheart

 Forever

is a loaded word.

Five years in the gutter of my mind has this eulogy been forming;

it sputters, chokes, and never dies, a constant symbol of what isn't.

And you're friends with all my friends

and the memory won't fade.

I still care if you don't care.

Wishing is my painkiller these days: a cool, calming, alternate reality

takes me away and lulls me into sleep infused with your absence.

Sixteen

and going nowhere.

That road we dreamt of driving on caved under the pressure of expectation

too long ago

And I can't miss what I'll never know.

your word choice is simple but it doesn't take away from the deep, painful emotions that this poem seems to express. I loved this line, "That road we dreamt of driving on caved under the pressure of expectation", i think it's put together very well. good job, keep writing!

Is car wreck a metaphor for a jacked-up relationship/friendship? I think so. I'm going to agree with the other reviewers. I like this piece. It's deeper than it appears at first glance.

Good work....can't wait for more.

I loved this. My favorite line was

Wishing is my painkiller these days: a cool, calming, alternate reality

takes me away and lulls me into sleep infused with your absence.

That had a beautiful ring to it. This was amazing.
