We Are Weak

For my country Philippines, after being hit by super typhoon Yolanda. Totally saddened by what is going on now between the government, local officials. We all pray for this nation to stand up again.

Their agony
Their longing to breathe
Their thirst
Their hunger...

Fragile veins,
Withered skins
Bloody and soaked
Feeble cries,
Unheard


Help
Everywhere
But
They are dead.

This nation stood...
Decades of hunger
Decades of poverty
Decades of corruption
Their stomach, hardened
Their souls, reconciled

Where are you?
Who are they?
Are we strong?
We are not!

Pride has been flooded
Sympathy has been quaked
Love is at war.
Nowhere to go...

When will this nation stand?
When will this nation grow?
Their hearts corrupted.
Minds devoured.
No one to trust.


We are weak.
We need help.
Yes.

Our voice is not enough...
From the nature's wrath.

I remember this moment, when I sat while I read and listen to the news in our country. And I remember the time not so long before Yolanda, our(my) hometown as well was devastated by the flood and many had died, but not as plenty in the Yolanda calamity.

I felt a sting in my heart, could not help but just cry upon realizing how our country suffer from many calamity last year, from flood to earthquakes and this storm surge Yolanda. I was indeed a sad, sad effect on us. The global warming effects our country too much, by strong storms...

This piece reminds me so much, I remember I felt helpless being far away, but here, OFW reach out to the victims, we offer our support too, but it was not enough because of the slow progress our government are doing... I don't know either our government is not really prepared or just plain corrupt...

I hope now, everything is building up for recovery... Like they say we filipinos are resilient people...
we stay strong in the depths of calamity.
