When I Was In England FairA Poem by Scott H.I spent a glorious New Year's Eve in England, in a quaint little pub downing pint after pint of Guinness with the locals. Since then, New Year's has always been a bit of a let-down.“When I Was In England Fair”
When I was in England fair My sorrows I could drown Within a pint of Guinness dark Its froth a golden crown
For when I was in England fair I was of legal age A status back across the pond I had yet to assuage
So when I was in England fair In sparkling purple shoes My feet skipping on cobbled stone Down Cambridge avenues
Never have I known a time As when I was in England fair Carousing gaily in that pub Free from worry, free from care
When I was in England fair It was on New Year's Eve... And no greater New Year's since Have I yet to achieve
