“Smoking After Midnight” Smoking after midnight The moonglow illumes the haze Hanging from the empty spaces, Dickensian In the protracted ghostliness Until the breeze stirs My exhalations, Causing the wafting shadow tendrils To dance lasciviously With the flickering candlebright, A flamenco in breath and fire That burns on passions rather than The twisting strands of Wick, entwining the same Way we used to, When we used to drip wax and Smolder. If only t’were the scent of you I was inhaling, Smoking after mindnight With lingering draughts that like To coalesce Into you face – Dissipate, di s si p a t e… . .
