When the Dark Things Come

When the Dark Things Come

A Poem by Scott H.
"

One from the darkside

"

"When the Dark Things Come"

I will stand my ground

When the dark things come,

I can hear them on

The wind.

They know that I

Have an untrue heart,

That know that I

Have sinned.

I shall not baulk

When the dark things come,

Even though they call

My name.

For I'd depart with them

When the dark things go

Back to nothing whence

They came.

They know all about

My base desires,

They know all about

My dread.

Because you see

When the dark things come

They are only in

My head.

'Baulk' is an alternate, more archaic, spelling of 'balk'

Oh wow! This is really great. I liked it, it has so much emotion and really draws you in. Despite the spelling errors, it's overall a great piece.

Clever and cutting. This has all sorts of potential. Sharpen its claws, teach it to bite. ;-)

For example, baulk should be balk.

A couple of spelling errors, Scott, but other than that, this poem gave me such a portrayal of how our minds can mess with us.
