Glass Doll

Glass Doll

“Glass Doll”

I keep a glass doll
By me always
It holds the shape of her,
Is filled with smoke and memories
As well as the essence
Of all the wild nights
We two have shared,
Shoes and cares abandoned
In favor of the tickling
Blades of grass against
Our bare feet
As they twirl and dance
Beneath the vibrant sky
Alight with the many stars
I captured from our eyes
And placed there
So that we might
Always be reminded of
How we two once were
Bright and shining, too,
And connected like
Those lucky constellations.
I keep a glass doll
By me always
It holds the soul of her as
We become like gypsies
Crying for a night bird.

Scott:

This is such a good poem. One of your better ones that I have read. Nice image, the glass statue by the bed, the remeniecing in the poem. The ending ties it together nicely, I think.

Thanks for posting it.
