Black Jet Fetish

Black Jet Fetish

A Poem by Scott H.
"

A Zuni figurine representing strength

"

“Black Jet Fetish”

A bear figurine
Carved with indigenous design
By traditional hand
From black jet,
Bestowing the strength
(And one might hope ferocity)
Of its grizzly likeness –
I keep it secreted away
In my camouflage footlocker
Hibernating,
Gathering power.

Scott:

This a great poem. Few words that say a lot.

The ending: "Hibernating,/Gathering power." is priceless.

Keep writing.
