Frozen in Amber

Frozen in Amber

A Poem by Scott H.
"

Written for a co-worker and friend on the occasion of her high-school graduation. Her mom was a co-worker and friend as well. Neither one of them has ever read this.

"

"Frozen in Amber"

Here is a moment in time

Fallen from the stars and

Frozen in amber,

A fossilized reminder of

The impermanence of things

That walk and crawl across

This divergent blue sphere

We call home.

The ways of the world

Lay in changes chaotic,

Not the preserved peace

Of a stolen moment

Trapped in honeyed glass.

Here is a wildfire

Spun from the heavens and

Frozen in Amber,

A burning desire for

The adventures of living

That are far and beyond

This small town isolation

She calls home.

The ways of the world

Call with temptations chaotic,

Not the splintering voice

Of a mother's heart

Watching her daughter grow.

Here is a dream for success

Conjured forth from my heart and

Written for Amber,

An uncomplicated wish for

The treasures of loving

That are rarely encountered

In the child-like haze

She leaves behind.

The heart of the world

Beats with romances chaotic,

Not the faint pirouettes

Of a girl-no-longer

Dancing in the starlit fields.

"Here is a moment in time Fallen from the stars and Frozen in amber "..."Not the splintering voice Of a mother's heart"..."Not the faint pirouettes Of a girl-no-longer Dancing in the starlit fields."...---this is achingly beautiful, your words are sinuous, I ditto the others I know the recipients willl love this, but I also understand the poet self is sometimes our hidden self---enjoyed!
