The Metronome of RainA Poem by Scott H.Exploring both the rhythmic and sensual natures of one of my favourite things, rain"The Metronome of Rain"
The metronome of rain Beats against the pavement In stacatto bursts As it falls from above In a curtain of glass That hangs across the landscape, A shimmering veil That separates the worlds of The rain-tossed and the dry. The sky, once blue, Is now gray-clad, Weeping its sorrowful tears Upon the bosom of the lakes With the intimate delicacy of The much-missed touch of a lover.
The metronome of rain Slaps against my face With stiletto sharpness, Flooding my soul with A torrent of hopes That permeate every capillary, An irridescent wish that Unites my mind with The unadulterated call of the flesh. My heart, once barren, Is saturated anew, Pulsing with diluvial vigor To warm the blood in my veins Against the rain's languid chill like The much-needed touch of a lover.
