Lewis K

A Poem by RaymondoftheWoods
"

A short 14 line poem written at the age of 18

"
'Twas dark and late one night
When I, Jason, In a dusty and forgotten library,
Found then opened a tattered book,
There faintly written upon a faded brown edged leaf,
Was an old, old scrawl:
"I've died today, Appleby,
Lewis K, 1803".

I pondered, gripped deep in my heart
By this 1803 message,
Awakened, stirred and at last Enlightened
I gripped my own green ink pen,
And wrote my own Today's Reply:
"I've come back today, Appleby,
Lewis K, 1970.
