Too soon to lose

My friend, my Jen

Missing her smile

Her wit

Her hugs

Her sage advice

(that line would make her scoff)

She was more than my friend

She was my mentor, my shining example

Of the person I want to grow to be

(again she would scoff, and say “oh you!”)

Truth, all who know her would agree

Amazing

Loving

Strong

Loyal

Dedicated

Faithful

Beautiful

(I can hear her again, “I’m not these things”)

Humble

Giving

Caring

Silly

Sharp witted

Funny

Clever

I could go on

So many things to miss

A giant hole in my heart

Jen-shaped

So many more things I wanted to know

I thought we’d have the time

But time ran out

Too soon

Never again to pick up the phone

To hear that sweet voice

“Well hello there”

I love you to the moon and back
