kung matalino ka pero tamad naman wala ka patunguhan. intelligence alone could not take you far it should be coupled with hard work/dedication. second line: being prompt (maagap) may pertain to proper timing. kung masipag ka nga pero lagi naman wala sa timing kasipagan mo, chances are mapag-iiwanan ka rin. parang early bird catches the worm. the third line: better late than never.

Tama ka Gab..Natumbok mo. Although its an assets to have and be bless with intelligence. It doesn't exclude other from reaching the same goal and dreams with the one that has not been blessed and endowed by it. Halimbawa. Many of us doesn't have the privilege or fortunate enough to afford a descent education . Pero marami pa ring ibang paraan para umangat at umasenso.
Matalino has some advantage but since they don't have to sweat it out . Its tempting not to put much effort and lose drive and take it easy. Masipag may not be blessed with intellects like traditional indigenous people yet they still manage to get by and doesn't give up for something that they cannot changed or have no control. Maagap has a different approach in life. These are the one that are not willing to settle for less though they are well aware that the odds are against them. We can call it " risk takers " . Kind of people that doesn't wait for their turn but enthusiastically pursue it and relentless regardless whether the situation is ideal or not ideal for them. As this saying goes is not true about them " A person that waits for his ship to come in has already missed the boat "

Kabayans, perhaps some indigenous people may not possess the "academic intelligence" because they were not given the opportunity to study but it doesnt mean that they do not possess wisdom. Medical books would teach us the development of child and how to “technically” proceed during child birth. Yet, even without these books our indigenous unschooled brethren have long been successfully delivering babies and raising healthy individuals.
Maagap, according to you, are the risk takers. True, they are the ones who doesntwait for the opportunities to come....they chase opportunities or they create their opportunities. Such aggressiveness is intimidating but i admire those people for their guts. Re: the quote you mentioned--- It occurred to me what if a person could no longer wait for the ship to dock at the harbor? And by virtue of being "maagap" she persuaded a boatman, through her intelliegence, to take her to the ship and upon reaching the ship, she tossed out the tired boatman as she no longer needs him for reason that th ship could take her faster to her destination. Does that fall under the category of being maagap? There’s no question, intelligence, diligence/hardwork, promptness are some factors that help us achieve our goals but I guess we must not also forget to be guided by our conscience. ...lol...ang haba yata

wow Gab your follow up thread is amazing. You even expounded it more. Yes that is true. Somehow I did pondered that intellect cannot be measured accurately when it comes to life application. When we used or refer to the word " Matalino " we sometimes equate this with " Natapos " of grades or title or achievements. Halimbawa . Suppose you were stranded in an island. You were a city dweller and new nothing about the remote jungle. You have two person with you One was a astronomers and one was a farmer. Each has its on idea on how to get back to civilization. Which one would you choose to follow and take a calculated risk ? Matalino or Masipag ? Thanks for your visit Pax. Yes you are right it is prompt in english. In our own national dialect it means " hindi papatay-patay " . There is a slight difference between Masipag and Maagap " .
