May mga bagay na kayhirap sambitin
Lalo na kung ang nararamdaman ay tunay at malalim
Sa araw-araw na ikaw ay nakikita,
May kung anong di maipaliwanag ang nadarama
Nagtatanong sa aking sarili at maging sa isipan

kung ito’y ramdam mo rin
Ngunit di pa makapagsalita at dinadaan na lang muna

sa iyong mga tingin at ngiti.

Sa iyong tingin at ngiti na may pakahulugan
May kung anong sa aking puso ang nararamdaman
Hindi ka man lamang ba magsasalita
Para ipabatid sa akin ang totoong nadarama?
Marahil ay naghihintay pa ng tamang panahon,
At ang kapalaran ang siyang magbibigay ng pagkakataon.

Sa ngayon, makokontento muna sa iyong mga tingin at ngiti
Babasahin muna nang palihim ang mga tingin mong may sinasabi
Ang iyong mga ngiti na di mo lang alam na nagbibigay sa aking ng sigla,
Na harapin ang buhay kahit na may dalamhati minsan, sa ngiti mo

ay may pag-asa pa
Makuha mo rin kayang basahin ang sinusukli kong tingin

at ngiti sa bawat sandali?
Huwag kang mag-alala ang puso ko naman ay hindi nagmamadali.

Ahem. Nakikita ko ang isang eksena noong high school ako - isang babae ang lihim na nagbubunyi sapagkat sa pakiramdam nya ay may lihim na pagtingin ang lalaking kanyang lihim din na minamahal. Kumbaga sila ay pareho ng nararamdaman kaya lang medyo torpe itong si lalaki. Kaya para sa akin, tamang-tama ang awit na "Ngiti".
Ito ay isang tulang tunay na makapagpapangiti sa sinumang babasa.

Natutuwa akong napangiti kita sa aking nilikhang tula. :) Parang ang eksenang yan ay nararanasan ko sa aming opisina ngayon kahit di na kami mga hayskul. :) Sa tinginan at ngitian lang kami naguusap minsan. Sa palagay ko nga ay may pagkatorpe rin ang lalaking ito kahit na minsan madaldal sya. :) Nakapost din ito sa Facebook ngunit di ko alam kung nabasa nya at nahulaan nya na sya ang pinatutungkulan ko sa tulang ito. :)

I got to compose this love poem out of the blue when I was requested to contribute to your group so it should be in our native language. I usually compose English poetry but the first poem I got to publish in a local magazine was actually in Filipino, too. Coinciding with the Philippine Independence Day, I told myself bakit hindi lumikha ng tula gamit ang sariling wika? :) "Ngiti" By Ronnie Liang was actually the first song I had in mind while composing my piece.

I found this song " Di Nako Aasa Pang Muli " by Introvoys. Don't know which is better. Please I need your advice. I like the English video but I felt the sincerity of our Filipino song...So what you think ? Agree or disagree ? ( NeiL ArandA )

Ang tulang ito ay nagbigay ng ngiti sa aking umaga. I've read the review belong may i suggest filipino songs that may accompany this piece. There's this song "Alipin" by shamrock or "Ngiti" by Ronnie Liang.

Gayem, the song by introboys is about letting go while the poem is about waiting for someone to take notice. Taylor swift's song really says it all but of course i prefer Filipino song to accompany this.

Hi Elizabeth ... I read your submitted piece a few times trying to grasp your message. If I have to relive my high school days. You've captured exactly what it feels like when someone has a crush on somebody but doesn't have the courage to tell and approach the person. So we have this saying or in tagalog wordings ( kasabihan ) . " Ligaw - Tingin, Halik Sa Hangin " ..I wish I could find a Filipino song that would accompany your piece. But so far this was the only video song that came to mind as I was posting your piece.
Its really true then that we tend to send non verbal cues and coded messages through our smiles and glances hoping that the intended recipients could catch our intentions and covert feelings towards them. I wonder why its very difficult at that stage for us to really be honest and reveal our true feelings ?

You know to be honest that one struggles I have had when I was that stage was I felt that I was not good or good looking enough to be noticed or liked by that special someone. So I'd wished that I was as good looking ... Sounds silly right ? but its true. So when the girl stood their ground and doesn't want to reveal that they caught and noticed our secret glances and make " pakipot " ...Then from the boys side and perspective we give up. Not that we lose interest but because the girl is beyond our reach... I hope I'm making sense ... So this is my thoughts and take from your piece...Thank you for sharing this here . I enjoyed much reading and pondering it and sharing my experience as well .

Thanks so much for reading and appreciating my Tagalog piece. I usually compose English poetry of different genres but then Belle, a fellow writer/poet whom I met on a social networking site requested me if I could contribute a poem using our native language. I came up with that love poem since I believe in any occasion, composing love poetry is easier since you don't actually have to experience it at the moment but just reminisce when you had the pleasure of having those butterflies in your stomach and "kilig" when you merely see that special someone or just get a glimpse of his smile. "Ngiti" is the first song I actually had in mind while composing my piece and it's but fitting to accompany the poem I believe. :) Thanks for a great review!
