Ode To a book of napkins

Ode To a book of napkins

A Poem by Pinky
"

i will explain at the end

"

The pure energy

That raw tainted emotion

A time before adult lethargy

Before societies contamination

Priceless

No cost

Careless

And its lost

Thoughts for ever vanished

Of a time filled with dread

Almost as if excelled, banished

Only some still in my head

Priceless

No cost

Careless

And its lost

Never to know

A me so long ago

Stories untold

Will never unfold

Priceless

No cost

Careless

And its lost

I don't even see this as being about something tangible. I see this poem about a loss of innocence. A tiny light of creativity that comes with childhood has flickered out when you lost your composition book ( funny I just picked up a marble one today) .. but here , it's as if it was that inspiration you felt when writing in your book that is captured here and was lost.. I feel for your pain. and though this poem stemmed from a tragedy (as many do) I enjoyed it.

awwww, I am sorry for your loss. I just recently rediscovered mine in my mums attic and it was like an acid trip reading those pages, being transported to not only the events written about, but the memories of where I was and what I was doing whilst writing them.
Such a shame to have lost those memories, but I certainly think that this would make an excellent first page for a new composition book and new memories. You managed to convey so much, without a word wasted. Thank you for sharing this.

When i started reading i couldn't really fathom what it was all about, then i read the authors note and understood completely. maybe im having a stupid day, i don't know! The first stanza is impressive, really impressive and after reading the comments below couldn't agree more with the featured review. i also really like the fact you used to write on napkins, a really good idea. i tend to write ideas into my phone and save them in my messages for the future. Ideas begin to grow in some funny places, Mcdonalds helping inspiration, who knew! well done.

the one thing i love about poetry is that as a writer we want to send messages or pictures but the reader interprets our work in their own way. people see what they need or want to see in our work. I see know this was about losing a book and that makes perfect sense but when i first read it i thought of a child who has to grow up and lose that innocence and truth of being a child. see this is good work as you get people to see and feel something.

I hope you find it again. This was well done. It could also be thought of in terms of the mass deletion that occurred here on the Cafe recentlyfor many. Great work.

A beautifully writen tragedy about loosing something so meaning full... I can realate. Yet my loss was by my own hand, when in a fit of anger i through away most of my childhood poetry... Only i could blame my self for that one.
This was wonderful
Sad, but as you still write, and compose, i know that the light is still with in you!
