Agreed. In the second line you could use 'can' instead of 'will' implying that this is a person of pride and won't be cut down by every name. Brake should be break.
I really like it though, I never did agree with the old version anyway.

It all depends on the state of mind of the person. Some people can stand being called names, others can't. 'Brake' is the wrong one. It should be 'break' instead. I like how you changed the classic verse and by doing something so simply, it makes it totally different.

I do agree, names can be very hurtful but i think the whole point is to try to make light of name calling, not letting it get to you. Thoughtful poetry.

I agree it depends on the person both the one receiving and the one giving. Sometimes we are able to shrug off hurtful words and names, but not when they come from people we care about.
