Endless Inequality

Endless Inequality

A Poem by Shawna

We all scream out for equality
While we mock our brothers and sisters
Being different isn't a sin
But if he's with another mister
It's something far too sinister
To even imagine
To even comprehend
Dig out the knife
Just to stab it back in again
Equality a joke
With no punch-line
Inequality has no end
We pick fights
And don't choose our battles wisely
We make picket signs
And sign petitions
All the while
We know they're despising us
Our beliefs now a crime
Dig out the knife
Just to stab it back in again
Equality a joke
With no punch-line
Inequality has no end

This was mainly written about my homosexual cousin. People are so judgmental, even the family.

A good poem that speaks volumes about peoples narrow mindedness and inability to think outside of the box. Nicely done

"Dig out the knife Just to stab it back in again." I loved that you repeated this because it was probably the strongest line in this piece. The message in your poem was clear and I couldn't agree more. Bravo for the write.
